FLASH FICTION 55...A BOTHERING PEEP

LET'S START OVER

 "How are you?"

"Fine!"

"Are you really fine?"

"Well, now that you ask...."

"Ahaaa! Then you are NOT so 'fine'?"

"Why do you want to know?"

"Oh, I'm needing some new gossip.
Besides that, you look just TERRIBLE"!

"Do I thank you for that, or..."

"No, simply tell me, is anything bothering you?"

"Yesss......Y O U !!!

  1. The question
    "How are you?"
    most often means
"Hello, don't talk to me, just smile and go on." Why did I say that?
It is because when I first came to the US every American greeted me with "
    Hello, how are you?"
Before I could answer, they have walked 20 paces down the hall.
Then I realized that they really meant to say
    "Hello!!! How are you!"
    "Goodbye!!!"
So different from how I was raised. We see friends and we hug and kiss and if we see elders we bow. If we meet strangers we just
    nod
    smile faintly without showing teeth
or just quietly acknowledge the other person. I liked it that way. It was more honest.

  5. LOL. This is why I'm glad I'm still single.
After a few years, this is how things might end up.

Plus, being single means I can make a midnight trip to Taco Bell whenever I want.
    Sometimes they're even open.

  6. I have to admit, I have a tendency to answer any "how you doing?" with a REALLY long story. You see, I have this pain in my knee...

    Nicely penned 55!

  10. CES!
It is rare to discover among the billions of Peeps one who thinks pretty much the same about so many issues.
You are in the several I have found, and it is a pleasure. So now let's find something to argue about?
Seriously, Ces, you are a "favorite Peep of this Peep"
    Peace!
    TSUP!

    BRIAN!
Tonight at an AA meeting I began my research. A guy asked me "How are you doing, Steve?" I started to tell him and within FIVE SECONDS he was talking to another Peep, asked "How ya doin'? We are FUN-NEE!!

    MONKEY MAN!
WAIT! Don't go away yet. I have not told you about my operation of ten years ago.....

    JINGLE!
Anna is fine, just got tired of blogging, I guess. She is so wrapped up in sponsoring Peeps, and other stuff...just too busy to blog, read, comment, etc.
As for me, I have NOT been gone for several months, blog almost every day...well, almost--grin! Thanks for commenting.

    JANNA!
I also have found the all-night hangouts in Naples. And I can go at 3 AM...or whenever. It's called "freedom"? I gotta get a cat though, I've ALWAYS had one--clean, quiet, loyal...and they PURRRRR! --grin!

Pain in your knee? Take two aspirin and call the office tomorrow. WAIT! I'M not a doctor.....

    SYD!
Remember "I'm OK, You're OK" a book I never read, but it sounds like "I'm FINE!"

    LESLIE!
Of course, "I'm FINE"...has now been changes to "I'm GOOD!" And I say OHHHHHH??? Have a good trip, girl?

  13. KB!
Yes, it is a way to become a non-friend, depending on how strong the friendship...Like to see you scaling a wall--grin! Was you ever in da Marines?

    G-MAN!
Nothing was ever wrong with my memory--I just for 78 years do not like to follow the rules. Only when working with other musicians do I follow rules, like "When do we break for food?" You are good man. Thanks for responding to even my stupid 55 things.
    PEACE!

Don't Judge Peeps by their Avatar.

You are talking to him through my blog? But 'he' does not read my blog. I do not judge his avatar...do YOU? But i don't know him. I am sorry you hurt so bad--or good!

All others LOVE your drawing. I figured out some of it...studied Greek four years! Well, I drank my way through classic classes...
