FRIENDS

Don D and Steve E with
first Motor Scooter 1949

God sends me friends,
unseparated Parts of Himself
to share, to care,
(and I was told)
to be aware.

Human nuggets, pure gold,
not for shelf-keeping,
dusting, burnishing
now, then, and when...
Precious souls!

Friends, God's bestowal,
carefully held in my heart
cherished, loved,
more, more, and more.

...as slowly older I grow

MEMORY--OH! WHERE YOU GO?

DREAMS

Dreams borrowed from god of night,
next day trying in vain to recall
so to excite with my pondered write

Straining to replace what's melted away:
Inspiration
perspiration
Respiration
might they together "save the day"

OR....

Wheels of my mind...HALT!
STOP! in your suddenly meshing grind
In frozen moment, press Shift, Control, Alt...
realize what was lost was not mine.

Allowing thoughts of serene peace and love
to silently meet with me at the first of light.

PASSING THIS WAY AND THAT

POEM

at age six
I ran away from home.
it's hard to run away
when not even allowed
to cross the friggin' street,
for to meet
patient destiny

life's ageless span
daily became same:
flurried blurs,
factasy avowed
to who--and you,
while crossing
our own avenue

brief--duration of life
yet painfuly slow,
filled with strife
when time to go.
ought I...cross this path?
thought I, "no"...hmmm!

"I no longer love her
that's certain...
but maybe I do love her?
--love is so short
forgetting is so long *"
*Pablo Neruda, 1904-1973

near age something-nine
oh yes! I felt fine.
in unison voices...loud!
hear them! “run, run, feet.
but don't cross that street!”

sweetest bird-sounds,
violin among tall trees
ashes and butterflies
together flew by--
a brother deceased,
un-wombed...
spread by breeze,
entombed
in the universe

whispered to me
in foreign code,
“...do not cross that road!”

THE WINDING ROAD

"And I wanna be in this moment
No one can take it from me
And I wanna stay in this moment
No one can take it away from me."
--IN THIS MOMENT*

LIFE: TWISTS AND TURNS

(ode to a moment)

ah, peace,
play simply,
enough...
for each moment
wherein i spend
my life.

this instant,
lived in grateful
attitude, love,
extends itself to
countless moments;

moments
of less stuff
--but enough.

as if each "now"
is one of
happiness.

it can be, yes?
most of mine are!
are yours?
NMW?
(No Matter What?)

every single
instant.

happy news
about a friend
came my way.

happily rested
in God's arms
i feel in
all moments
of yesterday
...and today

PEEK-A-BOO...I SEE YOU

to cherish forever

we realized
our desire, need,
for closeness,
attachment,
was because
we might otherwise
been unable to save
the memory of
our love

this...ahhh
appetence,
longing of
being together
was forbidden
not forsaken.
forgotten? never
nor renounced.
lovers were we of
impossibility.

paradise here
and there
predictable,
inevitable--

neither desisted
nor ceased
because....
could not release

PLANT A TREE?-- A POEM

California Redwoods

PLANT SEED AND JUMP BACK

find spot on earth
which has no trees
sprinkle flakes of love
plant sprouts or seeds
(sprouts are simpler)

one-and-half-century will
grow really nice Redwood
then sit, relax, and
wait few thousand years
(heheheh!)

oh! set your chair far back until
in good time, diameter of tree will
build out twenty-three feet or more...
carefully plant yourself....
so butt won't get sore

take a long nap
awaken to new world
where trees create sap
from below and above
when all universe is
sprinkling flakes of love

GUIDING LIGHT

GUIDING LIGHT

to wring truth
from anything
be ruthless
when weeding

on the way
yes, i prayed
asked that You
my God be there

trusting, with faith,
(i rode without fear)
that those nicest two
also listen, also hear

and they did.
so now can believe
what said here is true!

witnessed a miracle!
love, powerful--
melting iceberg,
my spectacle

time will take time
you'll not be alone
the guiding light
will see you home

FAR OUT

Published for Open Link Night,
week #119, in dVerse Poets Pub

Pic Art--click ETERNITY

ETERNITY

do you have a few minutes?
SURE!
wait--are you certain?
how do you know if
there's time to stay...
or is it time to go?

Alpha, Omega

in between EVERYTHING,
this very moment--
it's where Eternity lives.
chocolate cookies,
soft breeze,
kind words, dreams,
hope, love.

below? above?

a loosened leaf
floats onto grass.
yet ALWAYS is now!

past, future
exist not.

when time
shall be stripped away,
neither before nor after
 left standing--
eternal, spiritual life
evermore. FOREVER.

no beginning!  no end!

...and joy,
happiness therein
is but,
and only,
first and last...

AS SHE WALKED AWAY

♥ HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DEAR FRIEND

Every Tuesday is Open Link Night at dVerse Poets Pub
Today @ 3 PM Eastern doors open for OLN week #114

my friend, do you really know
where you go, or why?
is to mountain, sea
or big-city spree?

from foggy morning's
damp are you running...or
walking toward something new?
sophisticated lady, you

still smoke and blow
rings at ceilings
in subtle, yet carefree manner?
"do not wait, waiter--but now!
set by me here
caramel-colored beer!"
(white foam topping?)

morning walk, "cool" style?
or running for life, in fear...
are you yet not realizing,
many friends all are near?

know that everything
ends same way.
as in "all okay"
so 'til that day,
hear what the monk
had to say:

"all life, same.
divided in two,
frozen stream--
burning flame.
that hottest fire
...is love."

that is all what is
in the end! nothing ever more
shall inhabit space beyond that door
except undying, unending love.
truth
unlimited
infinite

Let'sTake a "Trip"

A Trip in Jazz.
Inspired from a Blog Post by CLAUDIA ...
in dVerse, Gay is asking for a poem topic,
"something" about jazz.

Thanks, Claudia

Wow, what a trip!
...enjoyed the ride,
and all the while
playing the tones
--and the deep notes

whew--I love jazz,
remembring when I'd
trouble myself,
try to pick out the tune,
unknowing that just to
let it be happening
is best.

Alas! The beat,
mental gymnastics,
intricate "tonguing"
...scaling heights
then drowning in it all.

Feels like never
will touch ground again,
feet...but finally all
settle into nice, warm,
fuzzy happy again.

Jazz, Love, I've always known
same could be played again,
but never retrieved as before
--being ever a new score,

spontaneous imitations
improvisations
which at once
chill, thrill, "kill".

Jazz, you ghost!
Continually haunting my house,
you keep me
lovingly addicted...

MAGPIE TALES week 184 SONG BIRD(S)

Published to Magpie Tales week #184.
Picture-inspired write. Do it,
then link your post to Magpie Tales

 art by Jeanie tomanek
courtesy of The Mag 184
Song Bird:
Hello, Pretty One--Yes, YOU!
With wings and things,
sharpened head-ring,
anklet replacing boot!

She:
Shhhh! We must not sing so loud...
behind us is that man in the cloud
who spys on me.
I flee to be free.

Song Bird:
I help you escape, now.

Freedom also my desire.
Jump down from that tree, girl;
set your wings afire.

She:

So afraid, that I might land
on that antique-mobile, but
will try to hit the sand.
Will you hold my basket, Bird?
But...OH!  You have no hand.

Allow me to sing a short poem
which I read on this blog one day...
it is for you, Song Bird,
listen now to what I say:

She:
has become
a most beautiful
Song Bird
♫♫♫
Fly little bird
Fly if you must
All this is because
Your lack of trust

Has overcome your
Knowledge of love.
Cavort on beaches
And notice above

White dove...
That'll be

WE HAVE LIFTOFF! A MAG TALE

This MAGPIE prompt is found HERE
and shared by all who wish to
write a few lines, and "Sign in, please"...

UP, UP...and AWAY-AYYY

Lift us up you
beautiful balloons, to
asteroids, planets, moons
to happy place
in space.

Up, up, and awayyy

baby, maybe
to stayyy?

In our balloon-mobile

together we'd steal
far from the "mirth"
of earth,
laughing instead
with the stars.

Silently, we sped

on our journey
past planets and rings,
black holes and things.

Days and months

turned into ageless years.
Of never finding way back

became our primary fears

He: Already you "Pop" yearn to return?

She: How do we  "Pop" go back?
Simply "Pop" one balloon,
then "Pop" another...see, we're
passing Jupiter "Pop" and Mars.

Did "Pop" you enjoy the ride?

Kiss, kiss, kiss--that means "yes"!
Before we land: POPOPOPOPOPOP...
Honey, straighten out your dress

As we lay there

on the earth-hill,
grass grew beneath...
we did declare
our love.
So sweet.

Never again did we meet!

Love, a Vignette

Human Love is about as understandable
as the galaxy pictured below,
although some will say they "know" both!

This poem came to me while riding
home from a meeting today...and it
is one of the FEW of mine that I like!
andromeda galaxy

LOVE: OBSERVATON

That love in your heart?
ear does not hear
through all those so smart
words, via shiny monitor.

A voice may, of necessity
deliver messages of levity,
or profound promises
most delicately gossamer.

BUT.......

True love shows its
unmistakable self
between sweetest gazing
of two pair eyes,
so wise, no lies...
then it is, love can express
in kiss and caress
.......Exquisitely

It is consistant and constant "doing"
for another and others,
in complete absence of self)

YA NEVER KNOW

For Open Link Night, week #93 at dVerse Poets Pub
Postings begin Tuesday at 3 PM EST

EDNA WAS A BIKER-GIRL!

 A TOY CAN TAKE YOU
ANYWHERE

Picture age four, a little boy
to whom Santa brought a toy
fiddle. Word rhymed with
diddle, as in "Hey Diddle, Diddle
The Cat and His Fiddle...
cow jumped over the moon, and
dish ran away with the spoon..."

I positively hated the violin
Hated my mother--a sin--
which led to many years
of torture, tears and fears.

SKIP from age 4 to 75
Hardly a man is now alive...?*

In nursing home a violin plays--
and it is ME, some days!
Playing for the old folks,
conjuring maybe a memory.

Smallest old lady (Edna) in wheelchair bent
over, as if God might send for her
that very afternoon. Eyes closed, nothing
moved...soundless room...just we two
alone (with about 40 others!), me
on floor, kneeling so I might see her face
and she, restrained with a brace, still in
mode of sightlessness.

I said to The Spirit--"What shall I play?"
Floated out from my violin that day, a
favorite "Ave Maria" which would say
most honest truth known, to Edna,
new Friend, most smallest lady--who
opened her blues, squinted at me.

As we "connected" I saw a tear--only one,
roll down beautiful age-pruned place
along that creek where nose meets face.
What Utter joy--HOLY JOY I felt, as
her joyful memory-tears followed the one...

Thank You, God the Father
and Thank You, my Mother
for Gifts you both gave me that day,
Gifts for me to now give away......

As nursing aide rolled her away, I felt something taken from me.
Several days later, she was in heaven with her real Sancta Marie.
A nurse had whispered,
"We wondered if she would ever again
look out from her head bent there...
whether might once more shed a tear."

LAGNIAPPE:

...and every now and then, finding myself in a dark alley of life

I remember that day
and ask Edna to pray
for me.

MUSIC AND MUSE AFLOAT

Posted in OLN (Open Link Night) week #89.
Join us beginning 3 PM Tuesdays at dVerse

Both paintings titled "VIOLINIST" by Mark Chagall

CLAUDIA, MARC CHAGALL, AND ME

While reading a few of  my blogger “favorites” I fell upon (yes!) this gem by Claudia…and comment here with words I really felt.

“Lots of fun stuff to “look at” in this piece, Claudia. The painter paints, and he awesomely colors violinists in non-gravity. (Is THAT why they called me –back in the day–”spaced-out fiddler”? NO!)”

The following is Inspired by Claudia's work

Clacking keyboard: she and me
and cherry blossom tree, amid
violins bathed in colorful splendor…
Chagall said(?) “Imagine how it must be
to live in all colors, minus gravity.” Hmmm.

Both lived in three-dimensions—or four--
waiting, suspended, not really real.
Falling in or falling out of their place;
a catch, a kiss, love forever sealed.

Nevertheless—
traveling
endlessly,
separately, we

...In space!

LOTTA GREAT poems there, Peeps!

The following written as
comment to blogger friend:

MY CLOUD OF UNKNOWING

I know, I know...you do not read these comments! OK.
That first line:  "I know, I know" written of something
which I do not really "know".

I have become an "UnKnowing" Peep.
Started out knowing whatever you wanted me to know
(and some things, you didn't--smile!).
In fact, only ONE "knowing" remains:
I know God is LOVE--by deFinition.
That is all.
That's all I know.
Please do not argue that with me,
because at my age there is not much time to waSte(veroni. HA!)

God is love. This, revealed to me as,
through an erRor, I pulled up a post you wrote August 2, 2012.
Though a mistake (Sheeesh!) I read it anyway.
Turned out I had commented 3 times on that post--(
BTW, not a record for me (smile).

Knowing but one thing (which in effect is a lot)
I admit to BELIEVING anything and everything.
But, dammmit, I do not UNDERSTAND anything--
even that LOVE of which the UniVerse is created.

Cloud of UnKnowing rains
Chaos of ConFusion reigns

Finding the way out only took
38 years of following a
"simple-but-not-easy" program,
following a way of life
(for me, saved my life!)
Alcoholics Anonymous.

As a human bEing, I be.
Sometimes that's not easy,
 to just "BE"!

Being part of God's love, as expressed
in the largely-unknown UniVerse,
I learn--express my soul in lovingness.
Loving is (again) simple, but not easy.
Accomplished by actions.

The Peeps I work with are constantly thinking of and helping others,
first, to stay sober, then to help them realize we do NOT have the answer--
we are under a Cloud of UnKnowing.
But we do have a solution.
A portion of that is dOing.
--smilingly, he says..."UNDERSTAND?"

LOVE and PEACE to all who may read this
and to all who may NOT.............
--steveroni
