DIMENSION OF GOOD AND EVIL

A BUDDHA MEDITATION

Mind is the forerunner of all (evil) conditions.
Mind is their chief, and they are mind-made.
If, with an impure mind, one speaks or acts,
Then suffering follows one
Even as the cart wheel follows the hoof of the ox.

Mind is the forerunner of all (good) conditions.
Mind is their chief, and they are mind-made.
If, with a pure mind, one speaks or acts,
Then happiness follows one
Like a never-departing shadow.

--These words, which are the opening lines of the Dhammapada, were spoken by Gotama Buddha 2500 years ago. They illustrate the central theme of Buddhist teaching, the human mind.

  2. no duality then, hum...?
Still, i think my blog's title makes sense, even more, now... the only one goal and challenge...2500 years and we were never taught that's all about it.

because the power of the mind and jin jan beat common sense- you know why?

  3. Are you reading Brian's mail or his mind? Both could get you in trouble. :)

  6. BRIAN!
Yep, each day upon awakening I ask myself...Wonder what Brian's mailbox will bring forth THIS time! You need a new password? -grin!

    DULCINEA!
In that 'perfect Universe' no duality could exist, but hey, that's called NIRVANA! You just continue your poetic sweetness, and all will be well. Duality does NOT mean "two-faced". Right?
    Hugs!

    MAGPIE!
Have to go over and see what Brian is up to. I believe our last conversation went something like: "MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!" I sure miss him LOL

  9. The pure mind... Steve... is such a difficult place to attain. The harder I try, the more that mind evades me. It seems that when I just allow it to fly free... it comes back filled with the purity I seek.

I leave... pure footprints... in this sand.

    :-)
