SLIPPERY SEED

Each morning, in darkness, I ride out from the garage to an early AA meeting. Annually at this time thousands of seeds fall onto our driveway. Yesterday morning "Humpty-Dumpty" (me) had a great fall, slipping uncontrollably on those rounded pieces of God's Creation. I talked to God immediately, even used the word "damn"....Photo is of two of these trees, right outside our garage door.

LESSONS
IN LIFE!

from palm tree falls
what no longer needs
tiny little balls,
tiny small seeds

on which i slip
glide and slide.
in the early dewy morn
scooter takes a flip.
alone, forlorn,
down comes me,
bike and all

the pain, the hurt,
leg feels a burn.
i grunt...exert
when will i learn?

tomorrow won't weep
nor do any raving
for tonight i sweep
all balls off the paving

  1. Feel better, my friend. Pain is a big bummer, indeed. Sometimes trying to catch yourself is even worse than the actual fall. You can pull muscles.
Have a good, and safe weekend.
    Smiles,
    Jane

  3. JUST JANE:
Thank you, but I am feeling OK tonight, just sore unused muscles, as you said!

And I DID sweep those pesky seeds tonight, and there were thousands, and many more where those came from!

    BRIAN:
Thanks for dropping in, "Mr Always and Everywhere"...

Glad you are back blogging. Welcome home..

    KRISTIN:
I'm OKAY, girl. But thanks. All swept up now!
Hope you didn't have too much rain or wind--no damages. Should be a breezy night though!
    PEACE!

  6. They are probably as annoying as our oak
trees! I am sorry you slipped. I am considering a push blower since my shoulders no longer appreciate too much raking!

  7. Dear >Steve E
    Peep of palm trees
    Be aware of those knees
If you fall because of tiny seeds.- grin

First I must say the photo is amazingly beautiful.
Now- those seeds cannot be small and tiny for that is redundant
OH Am I being critical here?
That seems to be the fashion these days.

If they are so tiny they should not do any harm
But all together might make a big one
    It’s life
Full of tiny things that make us big!
Maybe the strong winds will get that far and blow them away
Really hoping you haven’t hurt yourself, SS.

  8. palm tree balls - interesting
I guess they are not good for anything but slipping on.

  9. LISLEMAN:
You are partly correct. My hunch is that they are also good for growing new palm trees--grin!

    DULCE:
It is the strong winds which have put them there, from the tree where they belong. ...Tiny, and small being the same, guess I stand corrected. I'll try to tighten up my lines a bit more...Thank you for the visit and comment. It is appreciated

    IZZY:
A Blower! Why didn't I think of that? The whole neighborhood uses them, I'm still with the push broom and rake, as you wrote.

    MAGPIE:
That is the FUN-NIEST! Thank you! I needed to get back my sense of humor--it was here a couple days ago. Now...where did I put it--grin!

  11. Tess Kincaid, thanks, but I'm OK...just scary at the moment, and the usual muscle soreness/muscle. Pit that against Mr Hustle (me!) and it's no contest..........
    PEACE!
