This "LOVE" Business

Posted rather late (last one in, #109--grin!) on D'VERSE, a favorite place!
Prayer Girl at Naples Beach

Love? LOVE it!

People say that love hurts,

but that's not true.
Loneliness hurts.
Rejection hurts.
Losing someone hurts
Envy hurts.

We confuse these with love
but in reality, love is the only thing
in this world that does not hurt.
Love covers up all pain
and makes us feel
wonderful again.

LOVE and PEACE, Peeps!

  1. love is a beautiful thing....and hey PG!! i think where we get confused is when we put out hands on love and try to make it into something it isnt, then there is pain....

    1. Since--in the end--love will BE everything, it is senseless to "try to make it something"! You ALWAYS so right on, Bro.
PEACE to you and your family (and students)...

  9. I beg to disagree. Actually, I won’t beg. I disagree. When you say the “business of love” then you are taking into account the other aspects and range of emotions that accompany love. But what is love? Is it wanting, needing, feeling wanted, feeling needed? Does not make much difference from paying a prostitute or a call boy in that case, doesn’t it? Some people really have a profound desire for sex and therefore will experience passionate affection for another person, whether that person is paid for the services that elicit these emotions, or not. People who are infatuated or obsessed think they are in love. Interestingly I looked up the meaning of love:
    love
[luhv] Show IPA noun, verb, loved, lov•ing.
    noun

    1. a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.
    2. a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.
    3. sexual passion or desire.
    4. a person toward whom love is felt; beloved person;sweetheart.
    5. (used in direct address as a term of endearment, affection,or the like): Would you like to see a movie, love?

Ah, there you go. It can mean anything. Love is never without pain and hardship. One cannot claim love as an individual feeling, or emotion. When you talk of love, you cannot pick and choose. You have to take love as is. Joy and pain, but mostly it is pain and hurting.

Happy is the child or fool who has not discovered how to love but is loved. Tortured is the soul that loves. Tortured still is the soul that loves who analysis everything.

    1. Ces, may I lovingly agree to disagree with you--probably the first time for that to happen. You might have misunderstood my stance on love--from many blog posts.

No purpose would be served by repeating--except that it has absolutely nothing to do with a dictionary--grin!

      PEACE, Ces!
      Steve

    2. No, a dictionary does not define love, but fools have been known to give it more meaning than it has or is.

      Thanks, Ces.
Sometimes I think we all in the same boat.

  15. Well, heck, I'm just going to say I think love is a good thing and that hurting is a bad thing and that yes, I believe there are good things and bad things in the world...not just things. :) You are a diplomat in the most generous definition of the word. :)

    2. Yup, I gotta agree, love cannot be put into words. Each Peep has own understanding. Like we cannot understand God, either. It is said that "God IS Love" and THAT is BIG--pushing love right into the Eternal life.
