REGULARLY and OFTEN

Self Awareness   (Google Images)

A reason for praying, meditating,
regularly and often:

To avoid being dragged
into miseries of Peeps
I meet and greet daily,
I ask for awareness.
Regularly. Often.

Higher Power has sent me
some few who are at
bottom of life's barrel.
Or so they believe,
or maybe perceive.

Need to review, renew and
refresh my attitude, my gratitude,
regularly and often...

...I ask for the gift of humility.
That virtue is alien to my nature.
One Peep I know is a 'living futility'
I try to make sure he sees, agrees,
that God works in him...not I,
as he climbs from pit of denial
to that place where he can
look me in the eye
...and smile!

Another I watched with care
during an eight-month growth--
no psycho-doc, no counselor.
We climbed 12 steps together
(God held him close--tethered!)
from despair to breathe fresh air,
to live, laugh, and love more.
Placed self on
farthest shelf.

And occasionally I feel
not abused...
but so 'used'--
sneak away. In private, kneel.

Gratefully meditate.
Humbly pray.
Regularly.
Often.

its the renewing of the mind. its hard as well esp when you have been given the task to minister to others...esp the ones that are hard, they will pull you down so you have to stay all the vigilant in your own personal spirituality to keep that from happening...you are no good to them if you let yourself fall...

  3. Well written ... I admire your strength, Steve ... more than that ... it gives me strength as well ... when I read your blog posts, many a time I feel your strength ... and I am transformed from a crawling caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly ... I thank you ... Love, cat.

    1. Well...caterpillars have their place, but I cannot help that I like beautiful butterflies more.

(You KNOW they used to be called "Flutter-by", right? Of course, you knew that! Then one day in Merry old England a young lad misstated the word
"Flutter-by" and from that moment...well, BUTTERFLY!)
      PEACE!

    1. Sometimes I write just what I'm thinking at the moment--or feeling--and it turns out to be the truth. Thanks for the "beautifully written" line. WHEW!

(I have several tough nuts and wish my offerings to them were 'exciting'
enough to really get their attention- SIGH. Ahh well, in God's time not mine :)

    1. Tough nuts are the best kind (not for eating thought--grin!) Sometimes we got to just do what we say: Trust in God that what happens is His will.

Sometimes with a newbie I am moved to begin at the beginning, maybe with stress on Doctor's Opinion--especiall those TWO HUGE paragraphs, which begin with, "Men and women drink essentially because they like the effect produced by alcohol." Whenever I stopped drinking I became restless, irritable and discontent, etc...

Izzy, I did not intend to get on a soapbox with you, but...well?
      Peace and JOY always, Peep!

    2. A good reminder - it applies to them both. I shall direct them forthwith, Merci! ( They do attend BB )
" More, better, different"- still applies to (my) Restless, irritable and discontent!

  10. Important reminder for me:

    To avoid being dragged
    into miseries of Peeps
    I meet and greet daily,
    I ask for awareness.
    Regularly. Often.

I have a couple lives ones I'm dealing with right now--one living under my own roof if you get my drift. It's hard to be in recovery sometimes with someone else creating a hell of a headwind!

    Good stuff, Steve!
