NUMBER 2 THE 'EYES' HAVE IT

Laurie Kolb posted "EYE CONTACT" this morning, and her topic was what I had been thinking about--interactions (or inter-reactions!) of and between strangers--in this world of which we are all (oh yeah?) ONE. My comment to her became this post for today--from St. Augustine. (I have a St Augustine story, but it can wait--I'll NEVER forget it--grin!

The EYES HAVE IT--YESSSS!

Some things we cannot log.
WHO but the giver and receiver
can explain in language...
"the look"?

I'm On The Road, of course,
writing experiences along the way.

But HOW can I export to you
the feelings (emotions)
trust
the love
which is simply and bidirectionally
transferred with no more (nor less?) than
"the look".

A stranger's eyes, smiling.
Smiling back at my own,
and then that explosion
of a facial smile
wide as the ocean...
and just as full of meaning.
How can YOU experience this--of mine,
by my pressing these stupid keys?
"The LOOK"...pass it on.

...and so some parts of all our 'stories'
have to end up in that
INFINITE UNIVERSAL POT OF GOLD--
itself alone spacious enough
to contain the universal thoughts,
feelings, 'smiles', trusts, life, loves...
of whoever lived
and whoever will.

All we gotta do
is open our eyes
...and look

in LOVE and SERVICE and PEACE!

  1. "the look" is familiar to me...I find I receive it most often when giving it away. :)

  2. Eyes are the first thing I look at when I meet someone... and a smile usually always follows (I have wrinkles to show for it). Thanks for the mention, Steve. I actually have written a poem called "That Look" which was published in TUCK Magazine's July issue (it's the second poem). http://tuckmagazine.com/2012/07/05/july-poetry/4/

    1. Laurie, I realize that most men look first at something other than eyes--on a girl--grin! In early youth I discovered that "the other stuff" will still be there to admire, after I have seen that glimmer of light in the eyes of another, female or male. It is that connection which must be made (or sadly, not made) of one human to another saying something like "You're OK...I'm OK!"

      Again, I'm 'talking' too much!
      PEACE!

  3. I am sorry for not able to "look" at you.

Or am I a stranger no more?

    1. rainfield61...you a funny guy! FYI...I equate 'look at' with 'be aware of'. maybe that's odd, but 'odd' compared to...what?

To be philosophical about it...all I need do is to look with awareness into a mirror, and then I shall 'know' just about everyone I'll ever meet...and more.
If only I realized how much we are alike--we humans--grin!

How do we say it? The world is full of my friends. I just have not yet met them...

    1. Manon, I love little else more, than for another to open the book of their life to me and allow me to do the same for their 'reading' pleasure.

While hiding from a rainstorm under an overpass today, I watched as literally hundreds of vehicles streaked by. In each truck or car, I knew that one or more Peeps existed who had a life story to tell, FAR MORE INTERESTING than anything I could ever even dream.

One bit at a time, I try to uncover this mother-lode, this wealth of experiences. How wonderful that some DO this, and present to us fine stories--which keep our humanness in perspective since time began.

The blog-world by its nature is SO GOOD i its performance of this exercise.

You give me a happy smile, Manon, when you stop by here periodically. I am blessed--truly! Hpe you are working night and day at your art, because at holiday time Peeps are going to go crazy ordering your work...Lots of business--I predict!

      Love and PEACE!

    1. Is that not the reason for those lengthy eyelashes? To hide some of that 'communication'? You WOULD think of that angle, Yuvika!!! (Well, SOMEbody had to do it!

      Good laugh for tonight!
      Thanks

In Charleston South Carolina now, enjoyed special meeting, good friends, and good Mexican (burp!) dinner.

  9. Hey Steve,

Just making sure you're OK on the road. Glad to see you posted again today. It's been raining in Naples so Red is in the garage and will probably be there all weekend - it's supposed to rain A LOT. Keep looking ahead and stay safe. Don't get distracted and lose your way.

    1. Those are the best words I've heard today: "Don't get distracted." Found myself ogling a herd of cattle in a pasture along I-95, and there I was in the NEXT lane in front of an angry driver--not angry enough to kill me, though--grin!

Best advice (from me to me--and to you--grin!) take frequent time-outs...just STOP for 5 or 35 minutes, whatever. The next 50-75 miles then IS a piece of cake

Thanks Mary, fellow Webmaster-and friend, for reading, commenting, and that life-saving suggestion, and...
      PEACE!

  11. The eyes really do don't they. They are a window to the soul, that is the truth.

Glad you are present in person my friend. :)

    1. Not getting wet. Take refuge under overpasses (on Interstates)...and in empty gas stations, barns, or under church marquees (on 'Blue' highways!)
      Thanks for comment...

  14. I stumble onto your website looking for hope. I have been using for along time and recently began blogging about it. It is so nice to know that you have found a way to get clean and stay that way. Maybe I can too. Thanks, Kim

  15. wherever is desire--there is hope, Kim.
I KNOW you can get clean.
Only YOU KNOW if you can stay that way.

I only know how I did.
Only by God's grace (gift) am I sober today.
If you do not believe in God, tell me. There is still hope,
    in the human spirit...

I will come read yours tomorrow...I'm "on the road" ya know?--grin!
    Cheer up
    PEACE!
