SOMETHING IN THE WAY SHE SMILED

I see her smiling

that wily eye-stare
looking everywhere
and I wonder...

Is she also seeing me?

Me, the only one who
matters in my Universe?
Maybe not. Yet...maybe.

It MUST be I

(reassurance)
who she spy
says my deviant devil.

I hurry across the field

to other side, and now
the emptiness of her chair
screams out: SHE IS NOT THERE...

Adrenalin pumps through valves.

Every living cell scrambles to
restore my HA! cool. AH! THERE!!!
There is SHE! But who is HE?

Star player of wnning team

in three seconds it seems
shattered all my dreams
into tailspins of depression.

Finally--see my lesson

How wrong could ever be

one soul--me--who believed I
was the axis on which the world
turned.
Countless times been
burned.

Think! If I had but

shut my mouth,
opened my ears,
how much I might have
learned.

PEACE, LIGHT

and LOVE!

  3. Your poem, shaped like the half violin above.
A hard lesson to learn.Still, self confidence is also a good thing.I love rhyme that sounds alike but spells differently.

    1. Thank you Aprille. You saw a half-violin reference which I did not intend, and still don't quite see. Will really TRY that one day soon.

  5. Sometimes it is better not to put too much weight on expectations as we often get let down. I know it's sad but true. Expectations are subjective to individual ideas.

    Peace and Light my friend...

    1. Yup. Are you saying "...lower expectations spawn fewer disappointments"??

Guess ya know I confiscated your (LOVE IT) close statement:
PEACE and LIGHT. If that disturbs, tell me at once.

  8. Do our differences constitute our deviations?

I remember being taught that an old drunk hired hand
    who ran around half-crazy was a DEE-viate!
    PEACE and LIGHT, Sir.

      Thanks!
I believe wisdom can be neither earned nor learned, that it is a gift from God, given or not, in differing amounts. If and when wisdom shows itself, it is but the grace of God showing ITSELF. I AM glad you like what I write.

  12. At times we all think we are the centre of universe..
everything starts from us... we start expecting in loads.. and then one day this assumed universe exploded and reality kicks in :P

  13. Hi! Wonderful poem you've written.

Just letting you know, I'm the one who took the picture. Thanks for being inspired by it, I had no idea it'd get around like this on the internet. Have a good day :)
