ONE SHOE
I was sitting on a bus
next to a Peep who was wearing earrings, and braided hair, and dirty
shirt. Also he had only one shoe.
“You've evidently lost a
shoe, son.”
“No, man” came the
reply. “I FOUND one!'
Even IF it is
evident to me,
that does not make
it true...

by Anthony De Mello
...and
now,
A
SHORT POEM OF LOVE
Remember
when you
had
only one shoe
and
I had but one love
...myself?
Recall
that moment,
that
first comment?
It
was then that I lent
...myself!
Love
and me
became
one
in thee.
However
the
wind blow,
forever
shall us know
Blessed
Eternity
Live
happily
Forever
We

we is certainly the place to be...and its all about perspective on the shoe you know...and love too...wonderful love poem man..
ReplyDeleteThis one might be my favorite. I really love this poem :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I love this one for sure!
ReplyDeleteLost and now found! :)
Happily we ! and the shoe is great-
ReplyDeleteI understand.
ReplyDeleteBut I cannot understand how to walk with only one shoe.
I shall not be happy.
But I love the picture.
In which I can see many stories.
They say that you can see the glass half empty or half full :) all about the vision ...love it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful love poem!
ReplyDeletewhat a creative and tender love poem steve...yep...it's all about the right perspective...
ReplyDelete... Lovely loving love poem peep...
ReplyDeleteSo very sweet indeed
hugs
yes- a very *lovely* love poem :)
ReplyDelete"Love and me became one in thee." This mixed with the whole concept of "we" makes a lot of sense. Some people help us understand ourselves, and those are the ones we should build our foundation upon. I like this one a lot.
ReplyDeleteThis is a life lesson that none of us can be reminded of too often. Our perception is not always reality.
ReplyDeletePS: Sorry, I wanted to tell you that Strawberry is in northern Arizona about 20 miles from Payson. It was a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteperspective really is everything...and in the end, love is all that matters.
ReplyDeleteLovely work. And I love the photo too.

I love WE ....
ReplyDeleteLove this poem ... perspective definitely brings out new things!
These are great. The scene on the bus is a great character sketch for both these people. The person with the one shoe, wow, what a great attitude to have, no I found one. Half empty/half full ideal wonderfully poeticized. And the poem you follow with is equally an excellent work itself. Great reads. thanks
ReplyDeletehaha all about how we percieve indeed. What is lost can be found.
ReplyDeleteMAGPIE--I'll put you on my calendar for May 24 2013. BUT 'SEE' YOU BEFORE THAT...OK?

Love it. Very sweet.

Steve, I love the "we" in this poem. Only one shoe - only one love (myself?). It's about completion. Not completing yourself with the other person, but finding completion in your shared love. And may the other shoe now drop! amy

Good morning Steve E.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you.
Your comment and then your poem made me take my eye of the chessgame being played in Moscow at the minute.
That is a compliment, even though you proably don't realize it :-)
I would have said: what good is one shoe to me?
Stupid, I know. Maybe I'll learn that I can always hop along or wait for the other one :-)
This was different too and happy and fun. Not enough happy in the poems these days. I would love to see a a happy poetry hour/evening/day.
Good grief, I take my eye off the ball for a minute and Gelfand messes it up. See what you made me do?
ReplyDeleteYour fault he loses the WCC now :-).
The conversation is great food for thought and reminds me that what we see is only a small piece of the total reality of a thing.
ReplyDeleteI also very much enjoyed the poem.
A lovely love poem indeed!
ReplyDeleteAnna :o]
Lovely offering. I like how you went into the poem with that story. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteBlessed Eternity
ReplyDeleteLive happily
Forever
We
