I can only suspect that a title
should have been awarded me.
"World Worry-Wart 1943-2010". (www.)
Now I wish to trade my unawarded title.
Joy rules! New mantra:
"What a Wonderful World!" (www.)
Lyrics to a song of c.1943,
as sung by Gene Kelly:
"If you worry, if you worry,
if you bother your head.
It won't help you
it won't help you,
it will hurt you instead.
You can laugh and sing and dance
as gaily as an elf,
B U T.....
Don't expect to get much help
unless you help yourself"...
"Worry"--out the window
Oh let the sunshine in!
PEACE and JOY, Peeps!
Steve E
So glad that the "worry" has gone out the window. Getting rid of what we don't need makes room for what we do. I'm pondering on the line from the song: "don't expect to get much help unless you help yourself"... You and I both know where the help comes from. :)
ReplyDeleteDear Maggiepie--grin!
DeleteOf course "we" know whence comes our help.
"We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves." BB Pg 84 (Promises)
I had in mind this suggested to a certain extent that there is a point where we could and should --must?--help ourselves?
Lemme know what you think.
PEACE!
I agree...His grace does the most for us when we reach for it, strive for it, acknowledge it and embrace it. :)
DeleteWhat I think...is that you're a man who has earned his wisdom and cherishes it all the more for that reason.
I was inside St. Mary's Basilica here in Phoenix last Saturday and drank in all that glory. Wonderful. I am not one to place importance on a place to meet God...but was able to see His footsteps are often in that building.
Excellent Steve.
ReplyDeleteThank you, John!
DeletePEACE!
"...unless you help yourself" amen to that, my dear friend, steve, spread the word!
ReplyDeleteSweet, darkness--Shadow
DeleteWe must have gone to different schools...together! HAHAHAHA! Frequently our thoughts are parallel like train tracks. Except, if I may say--my train has gone through the tunnel and is crossing the bridge.
Happy, Joyful and filled with PEACE, as I hope you are Verena.
God bless you!
Steve
i feel you man, worry will rob you of much of lifes pleasure and for what? it does little good....shine on sun
ReplyDeleteYup...I wrote to Shadow:
Delete"Before and after every darkness, is...LIGHT!"
And it is the lights like she and you, Mister, which keep the darkness under wraps. (Hey, I like that--"keep darkness under wraps" HAHAHAH!)
Let the ( blessed) sunshine in ! A hymn that an elder resident ( Elsie) used to sing over and over every day! It was so catching and infectious, we(staff) all found ourselves joining in at some point. I have tried in my feeble way to search for it. I believe I got close once; but have since lost the link. Elsie knew only one verse; and George( a friend) supported her, in spreading that around! How is that for a fun Monday tale ?!
ReplyDeleteIn a hurry, I could not search for a better audio...but try
DeleteHERE
Hope this is song you meant, Iz
Love and PEACE!
I love the song you sent me the link for- but it isn't Elsie's Hymn!
DeleteThanks for the link have a great day!
Worries are a real menace ... enjoy the life :-)
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHA! I thought you wrote:
Delete"Women are a menace"...went back to read my own post, and realized a mistake...so, my first response was that "I LOVE menace"--grin!
However...YESSSS, worry is too much on dark side for me. But ya know? About every 8-10 months, one of those menaces (worries) sneaks in, stays for a moment, finds no friends here, and slips away into oblivion.
Now...OBLIVION I know something about!!! Believe THAT!
Thank you GS
PEACE!
yep...worrying just takes us nowhere...don't worry about anything but pray for everything...that's a constant escort to my day...usually i tend to worry a lot, you know...
ReplyDeleteMaybe as I get older, worry becomes less of a worry!!!--grin!
DeleteBeautiful, Steve. Really. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm glad you do what you do--grin!
DeletePEACE!
This is beautiful Steve. I don't worry. I just cry bucket of tears :)
ReplyDeleteWell, someone has to water the flowers--and from your tears, the most beautiful will survive!
DeleteI enjoyed reading this. Its funny. Is there anybody who never worries about almost anything? I even know a few people who doesn't have anything to worry yet they are frustrated about almost everything! Gosh, these people just wastes their grey matter!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your nice and genuine feedback on my blog, 8000 miles(computer-to-computer) is a great concept indeed! And so here I am once again!
I happy that you dropped by to say "Hi"!
DeleteThank you...(Angel of the Dark).
PEACE!
Hahahahahaha! Absolutely! If you want to get out of the river, start paddling. Thanks for that.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, my 10 year old daughter tells me that Mr. A.E. Newman is running for president.
Your 10--year-old daughter would do well to back Mr A E Newman, work for him, elect him.
DeleteWe could do much worse.
We have done much worse.
Actually, being at the bottom is not a bad thing. Meaning, we have only to go up. An one day we be grateful that we were allowed to hit bottom.
WAIT! Hear, HEAR! WHo is throwing all that fruit at me, and why does it smell rotten? Sure is moist, almost like a cake! Awwwwww. That chocolate was too good to waste.--grin!
PEACE!
Tsup, Bella
Steve
Don't expect to get much help
ReplyDeleteunless you help yourself
...so true, Steve E!
If the Peeps see that we are willing,
DeleteEnjoy Sunday, and the coming weel, Laurie
they DO go out of their way...I am witness to that.
Enjoy Sunday, and the week following.
PEACE, Laurie.
Steve
Love this! You write such upbeat posts and this one made me grin from ear to ear. I needed that.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see another Peeps grin,
Deleteit makes me...well, GRIN!
Hi Steve! Grin...Well, you make me grin, and I LOVE this post. I needed to read this this morning....am going in for a follow-up appt. on the implants, sinus lift, etc...and damn it, Steve! Why do we dwell so much, especially, in our older years, ...in pain?!
ReplyDeleteThis was definitely a grin maker. You brought back "Mad Magazine" for me...something in the 50's and 60's helped soothe a confusing and difficult childhood. Remember the two spies??? Black and white?? Black and red? I remember them and their antics....and "Mad" was, of course, a product of the cold war, but what a revolutionary rag for us then!!!
Do you remember Rocky Raccoon and Boris Goodenough? Or Natasha? Bullwinkle, etc~ Oh! what JOY they brought to a rather dull childhood times for most of us....Do you remember the "Better Red than Dead" or Better Dead than Red" slogans around 1960???
Ah, Steve, there was such adult fear placed upon our little heads! But perhaps not a bad as what kids now face??
Bless you for the memories and I promise to get more out and around the web this week. Have been moulting like a chicken lately.
Hugs and Peace,
Lady Nyo (Jane)
Well, Jane, I go back m-m-maybe further yet. 5:30 eah weekday afternoon, was "Jack Armstrong" (15 minutes) followed by "Captain Midnight" (15 minutes), in truth, radio shows for boys.
DeleteCaptain Midnight (Ichabod Mudd, Joyce, and Chuck--characters) sold to us kids for 15¢ (stamps or coin) a genu-ine gold alphabet-and-number ring, one size fits all. With this ring, one could figure out the clue for the following day's show. Don't you think EVERY boy had to have this? Oh almost forgot, please send in with the 15¢ two (2) foils from under the lid of OVALTINE jars.
O M G !!!!! When I think of what classics COULD have been stored in my brain for these past 70+ years--grin!
Thank you Jane for this "conversation" down the Lane of yesteryear.
Love. PEACE.
Steve
Oh my! You dare incur the wrath of Ces????? Oh, you brave man. You poor, poor, brave yet foolish man. Hahahaha!
ReplyDeleteTsup!
Bella.
Delete"For many of us", they said, "Sanity would return"!
For me, that did not happen. In fact, they asked me to leave the "Home for Old Violin Players", saying that I fiddled around too much!
(Maybe I should send Ces a card? What kind?)
Bye, Sweetie!
Great words...and its true "YOU MUST HELP YOURSELF"
ReplyDeleteWell yes, New Moon. Thanks! But I believe that I must do what I can...and what I simply cannot, I have to trust that God will do for me, in God's time, in God's way.
DeleteGlad you dropped by, made me think...HA!
PEACE!
