THE NINTH--A POEM

MOON AT DUSK NAPLES FLORIDA
(MY BACK YARD)

DID I hurt you
with my rhymes?
throbbing heart,
how many times?

Much sorrow.
words written.
sobs internal,
face down, abed with
bear named Ted
Not in same house,
maybe tomorrow!

Is it true
I hurt you?
Words--
knife-deep in heart;
risky game of life
played by my
key-caloused
finger-tips?

Oh! Those lips!

These days, rue
Stolen happiness
Deleted dreams
Evaporated hopes
Dying faith
Non-existent love
all the above in

generated wireless
format; delusion
self-centeredness
self-importance;
me, me, me
self, self, self…
WHEEE!

perchance you dance,
as elf on shelf
midst nouns
unsaid

where installed
with other books
...unread

  1. hey..you have a beautiful backyard view, just saying..smiles
and ugh...we can hurt so much with our words and things are written and published so quickly and can cause so much harm...we really need to be careful and have to remind ourselves that we deal with real people and real emotions and real life... great to see you in the pub friend

  2. nice...i miss the palms of florida man...we dont get those up here...smiles...words are dangerous things...they bring life....they destroy it...it is all in how we use it...and even when we are careful we can use them the wrong way....

  4. Our society is definitely more self-indulgent than ever, which can be hard to stomach sometimes. "Deleted dreams" is a sad image :(

    Not an autobiography!

  6. I like how sensitive you are about the power of hurting words ~

And I love your picture, I am envious of the view ~

  7. The power of words is almost unable to be out into words. Oh the irony in that alone! Ha. Words are so amazing - there really are just scrambled letters to match our moods but its the person who speaks them (or types/writes them) that puts the punch in them (or hug) Nicely done

    1. The beat! How interesting. Having played in symphony orchestras for so long, (as secundo violino) I have always "heard: the bass line, and the beat, be it Beethoven or Beetle. Actually hear it while writing. Or riding!

  9. Yes, words can be the worst of all weapons. And we need the reminder. I enjoyed this much.

  14. Words can hurt and kill.

Words can also inspire and bring hopes.

I see the later in your posts.
