HAIKU 5-7-5 COMPARISONS
Speak to me of coffee;
an elixir like none other?
God's gift to all Peeps!
Is all of life twain?
Frozen stream or Burning Flame.
That 'Flame'--love--IS life.
Is a rose a rose?
Even made from wood shavings?
When not and why not?
LOVE and PEACE
Steve E (aka steveroni)
I prefer the 5-7-5 syllable haiku
to the 3-5-3 syllable stanza
because I an wordy, not nerdy--grin!
If anything fails ... it all will burn ... chocolate, love, wood ... even coffee ...
ReplyDeleteSorry ^.^ Failure was/is not on my mind--
Deleteor maybe I do not understand what you meant.
But if you or someone you know is in "failure" mode
I wish them love and peace, that it will pas soon.
Thanks for commenting.
OH About "love" failing. If that fails, then I believe it was NOT "LOVE". The real thing is denoted by an ability and willingness to 'work out' every difficulty. It needs more than human power.
DeleteAnd, lest I forget, LOVE takes TWO. (or more?)
PEACE!
Steve E, on your second reply (which I read on the way to commenting on your delightful post), I agree! Love never fails!
DeleteA delicious concoction ... refreshing !!!
ReplyDeleteYup! Anyone who tries but is not really expert,
Deleteis refreshing--that they TRIED--grin!
Glad you enjoyed.
PEACE!
not bad being wordy at all brother...ha...and you know i love my coffee...smiles...
ReplyDeleteAWWWW, Brian...you'd let me get away with ('writing') murder, because we friends. LOL! I DO appreciate that. AND coffee...
DeleteBlessings, Sir, and PEACE.
Well done, you :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy to see YOU here....you!
DeleteGAWD! I wish there were 48 hours each day. (psssst. There really are, if we simply change the definition of "day".)
Love and PEACE, Kristin-Girl.
And thanks!
lol coffee is a drug like no other.... :) Caffeine....warm dark tones...fruity overture...a symphony in a cup :)
ReplyDeleteBeen thinking about joining CA...but cannot find a meeting in Naples.
DeleteMaybe I could start one. Write a Big Book, find me a co-founder, buy a house with 12 steps to the front door--open up shop.
I can just 'hear' the shares: "I'm a DUAL-ADDICTED "personality"! Etc., etc.
I'm gonna think about that "symphony-in-a-cup"--or maybe just drink it, not 'think' it--grin!
PEACE, Carolina-Peep!
I like all those things, and I like this. :-)
ReplyDeleteYOU are just too nice to me, Patti
DeleteThanks
Love and PEACE!
I love coffee except I try to avoid Starbucks. It is overhyped, overprized and over caloriefied (my term) :)
ReplyDeleteWell Ces, I like Starbucks. Ambiance there is conducive to blog-writing, and free-and-fast Internet access always. And when I spend two hours in a nice surrounding, I'll pay an extra "buck" for the Star.
DeleteSOME Peeps even sketch there, I notice............
We disagree on SO many things!!! But I still like ya--a lot!
TSUP!
Very interesting philosophical piece Steve, to me it is about perception.
ReplyDeleteJohn! is not much of our existence 'perception'?
DeleteHowever, there is but ONE TRUTH, whatever it is.
There can be NOT more than one!
Thanks for comment.
I'm drinking coffee right now and haven't thought of Haiku since 1968. Nice job Steve! See you later.
ReplyDeleteM A R Y You have no clue as how happy I am to see you here, my only Naples 'follower'. And now I see you are beginning to construct a blog.
DeleteWhen you are ready, please allow me to introduce you to my Peeps (in a blog post on Fourth Dimension) OKAY?
You are the bestest co-worker with which I have ever been associated.
And you have taught me SO much in our Webmaster sessions. I hope and pray our "fun-and-friendship" collaboration lasts for a long time.
I like them all but the last one is my favorite. Haiku is one form of poetry I can manage to write.
ReplyDeleteObviously not an expert, but #3 is one which comes closest
Deleteto making sense to me, also-and it ends with a question--grin!
Thank you, Magpie!
PEACE!
I like your wordy haiku.
ReplyDeleteI like coffee, I need my morning, midday and afternoon coffee.
I can't stand the taste of wet paper.
Gimme, gimme, gimme porcelain for coffee.
HAHA! I like that "wet paper" name for Star$ coffee!
DeleteAlso like my 'real' cup, and transfer from paper to pottery.
And I like your comment--grin!
PEACE, Felisol
"We disagree on SO many things!!! But I still like ya--a lot!"
ReplyDeleteGrin..
Don't understand why you quote my comment. Is it in fun? Derision? Well, this is all the time it going to get!!
DeletePEACE!
smiles...love is life...true that...love that wood roses and your little question embedded..and what better than a good cup of coffee in the morning..."kissable"..eh...smiles...
ReplyDeleteYes! Kissable--grin! Guess I just say what I think at the moment,
Deletenot always a good thing, OK? At my age, I'm happy to be ABLE to 'think'!
But all this IS fun, Claudia. It is time to really ENJOY life.
Thank you for visiting, Girl.
PEACE!
Coffe, morning and a cup...what else do you nee
ReplyDeleteWell, I need a computer, a violin,
Deleteand a loaf of bread--NO, forget the bread!
But you right about the "essentials"
PEACE, John.
I prefer the 5-7-5 too, although even that is usually not enough words for me. (smiles) All three are nice, tight little writes, and lotsa fun to read.
ReplyDeleteThank you, "looking-for-roots". I can see if I keep whittling on the block of words, it suddenly become as to fit, and still carry a bare semblance of message.
DeletePEACE!
Smiles to you--Loved these----
ReplyDeleteSmiles back to you--I'm taking time off from this, but will be reading and commenting...thank you for coming here.
DeletePEACE!
Now I want some Starbucks! We must be on the same wavelength, Steve!
ReplyDeleteWavelength? Or are we hooked on the same drug, caffeine?
DeleteWell, I do not "...have a desire to stop drinking--COFFEE!"
Bless you, fellow Coffee-Peep!
I prefer the 5-7-5 as well...yup, coffee break! :) Loved them all!
ReplyDeleteOh! Thank you, Natasha.
DeleteThough not perfect, I enjoyed them also! (Is it wrong to enjoy something of your own creation? I don't think it so much from pride.)
PEACE!
Very nice ~ I believe a rose is a rose ~ Happy day to you ~
ReplyDeleteA rose IS a rose--I believe that also. But some declare it is not a rose, when made with wood shavings--grin!
DeletePEACE!
Caffeine, love and roses...great things!very nice :)
ReplyDeleteYes! Great things!
DeleteAyala, I must stop writing blog posts for awhile. Other interests, building and maintaining a website--and learning. But I absolutely need the time.
PEACE!
Ah- fun haikus. Why not indeed? k.
ReplyDeleteWhen I learn just HOW to write a haiku, I KNOW it will be fun.
DeleteBecause it is fun now, even NOT knowing--grin!
These were fun and playful. (not haiku though...these are senryu - maybe even 5/7/5 free verse as they are now referred to I believe.)
ReplyDeleteOK. Thanks. I have SO much to learn. But little motivation, too much going on elsewhere. I WILL look up these things though, and not make the same mistake over--maybe?--grin!
DeletePEACE!
Cool poems! (Plural) Some thoughts I had....
ReplyDeleteTwo words for your first poem: "Diet Coke" :) Coffee is so blase', so generic, so...... hot. You all have Starbucks, now the rest of us should get a Starsoda!
Last poem? A rose is a rose is a rose..... Under any other name it would smell just as sweet. Wood shavings can have a nice aroma too. But spraying pine scented air freeshner on dog crap only makes it smell like a dog shit a christmas tree. Wood shavings are only wood shavings....
Middle poem: Love is love. Lost or imagined - it smells just as sweet. It is the beholder who knows if it ever lived or not, just as it is the viewer who brings life to a poem.....
Finally Steve, Haiku, Senryu, Free Verse..... I couldn't care less. Brilliance is the gauge for poetry, and yours has always met that mark..... These are no exception. Art is art in any form....
John, you just brought me to realize, when you wrote, "Art is art in any form."
Delete...that even a child at the age of five who's crayola colorings, she "...drew this for grandma..." is a work of art.
And the first, greatest, forever work of art to last until the end of time--creation.
However, I DO believe that art, by its nature, is of certain form, maybe flexible, but NOTHING is without form of some kind. NO CHAOS HERE!
HEY I WANNA BE A QUARK!
PEACE!
Quark-a-roni
Hey, Sweetness. Are you resting from your trip? Are things okay? Just missing "seeing" you around the blogs.
ReplyDeleteHey, Sweetness--I rested ON the trip. How wonderful it is, non-scheduled here, there or anywhere! Stress-LESS. FUN! Riding scooter at safe speeds (between 25 mph and 90 mph) FEEL the thrill. Ask any
DeleteHow I love to be
Completely at liberty
...but..."SHOES ON, BUDDY!"
I know, not a haiku!...but a Steve-u?
PEACE. Thanks.
Bring it all on...coffee, love and life!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I like your attitude, Ms Laundry.
DeleteBRING IT ON!!!!
PEACE!
I'll take some coffee and roses, please. Love will find me when the time is right. Loved all three. Well done.
